Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Cornstarch for dusting Prevents sticking

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Combine the flour and water in a bowl. Knead until smooth. Cover and let that dough rest for 30 minutes.
Prepare the Filling
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the ground pork, chicken broth, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sugar, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
Shape the Dumplings
  1. Roll out your dough and cut it into small circles.
  2. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.
  3. Gather the edges and pinch to seal, forming a pleated pouch.
Cook the Dumplings
  1. Prepare a steamer and place the dumplings on parchment paper.
  2. Steam for about 15 minutes.
  3. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Knead longer for smoother dough, chill the filling for easier handling, and dust with cornstarch to prevent sticking. Experiment with different fillings for variety.
