  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Dusting
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cloves, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, orange zest, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy with tea or coffee!

Notes

Chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking for better flavor and handling. You can also add nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture.
