Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in the boiling water until well combined. Don’t panic; the batter will be thin!
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- Beat the softened butter and Nutella in a bowl until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
- Add heavy cream to reach your desired consistency.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread the Nutella frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For a fluffier cake, ensure your eggs and milk are at room temperature. Sifting cocoa powder helps avoid clumps.
