Ingredients
  

For the sandwich
  • 2 slices slices of bread Sturdy bread like sourdough or whole grain is recommended.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Mozzarella or cheddar works well.
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries Use ripe, juicy blueberries for maximum flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon butter For spreading on the bread.
  • to taste Salt Optional, for sprinkling.
  • Honey or maple syrup Optional, for drizzle.

Method
 

Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice butter-side down on the skillet.
  4. Add a layer of shredded cheese on top, followed by fresh blueberries.
  5. Sprinkle with salt if desired.
  6. Cover with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  7. Cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side.
  8. Once the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy, remove from heat.
  9. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup if desired, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

This grilled cheese is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet to regain the crispiness. Prepare fillings in advance for easy assembly before cooking.
