Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar over medium heat.
  2. Stir occasionally until the strawberries start to release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the lemon juice and optional vanilla extract.
  4. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. Serve drizzled over your favorite desserts.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in the fridge for about 5-7 days or frozen for about 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight when ready to use. Use fresh ingredients and adjust sweetness according to preference.
