Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
For Assembly
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce For drizzling between layers and on top

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and cooled brewed coffee.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan, then drizzle half of the caramel sauce on top.
  2. Pour the remaining batter over the caramel layer, then add the remaining caramel on top.
  3. Use a knife to swirl the caramel into the batter gently.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

For serving, dust with powdered sugar, or add ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container, refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
