  • 1.5 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or mixed herbs
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Main Ingredients
  • 2-3 medium potatoes Washed and cut into chips.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided) 1 tablespoon for potatoes, 1 tablespoon for cooking beef.
  • 500 grams lean beef mince Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based mince.
  • Lettuce, shredded For serving.
  • Cheese (dairy-free or regular) For serving.
  • Pickle slices For serving.
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise For burger sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup For burger sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (Dijon or yellow) For burger sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon pickle juice From the jar of pickles, for burger sauce.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  2. Wash and cut the potatoes into chips, pat them dry with paper towels, and toss them in a large mixing bowl with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and half of the spice mix. Coat the potatoes well.
Cooking Potatoes
  1. Spread the potatoes on a baking tray and pop them in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30–40 minutes, or air fry for about 20 minutes until they're golden and crispy.
Cooking Beef
  1. While the potatoes cook, heat the remaining olive oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the beef mince, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  2. Once it's browned, sprinkle in the remaining spice mix and cook until the meat is darkened and excess moisture evaporates.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice. Taste and adjust as necessary.
Assembly
  1. Once the potatoes are ready, divide them among your bowls. Add shredded lettuce, the cooked beef, cheese, and pickles. Drizzle the burger sauce on top and serve.

Notes

These bowls keep well in the fridge for about 3 days. Store components separately to maintain crispiness. Reheat beef and potatoes before assembly. For variations, substitute beef with mushrooms or lentils, or add barbecue sauce for a twist.
