Ingredients
  

Pasta and Broccoli
  • 8 oz pasta (any type) Choose your favorite type of pasta.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh is best, but frozen can also be used.
Cooking Essentials
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Freshly minced for best flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust to taste for heat.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
Topping
  • Grated Parmesan cheese Optional, but highly recommended.

Method
 

Cooking the Pasta and Broccoli
  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted water.
  2. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot with the pasta.
  3. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and broccoli.
Sautéing
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet, tossing everything together.
  3. If needed, add reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of water.
