Easy Breakfast Quiche

Ingredients
  

For the quiche
  • 1 pre-made pie crust 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 4 large 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream Heavy cream yields a creamier texture.
  • 1 cup 1 cup shredded cheese Use cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or your choice.
  • 1 cup 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon, sausage, or ham Optional, can leave out for vegetarian version.
  • 1 cup 1 cup chopped vegetables Use bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms, onions, etc.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter For sautéing vegetables.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon dried herbs Optional, use thyme, oregano, or basil.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently. Trim any excess crust and pre-bake if necessary.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat and sauté the vegetables until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or cream, salt, pepper, and dried herbs.
  5. Spread the cooked vegetables and/or meat over the pie crust. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top and pour the egg mixture over everything.
  6. Bake for 35-45 minutes until set in the center and lightly golden. A knife inserted should come out clean.
  7. Let the quiche cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with fresh fruit or a drizzle of hot sauce for added flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat slices in the oven or microwave.
