  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast Ideal cut for slow cooking
  • 1 packet onion soup mix For seasoning the beef
  • 2 cups beef broth To braise the beef
  • 1 cup water To dilute the broth
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls To serve the beef
  • Sliced provolone cheese For topping
  • Olive oil For toasting the rolls
  • Salt and pepper to taste For seasoning

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a slow cooker, place the beef chuck roast.
  2. Sprinkle the onion soup mix over the roast.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and water.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  6. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks.
  7. Toast hoagie rolls, then fill them with the shredded beef and top with provolone cheese.
  8. Serve with a small bowl of the cooking liquid for dipping.

Notes

Serve with crispy fries or a fresh garden salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
