Crispy Chilli Beef

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef (flank or sirloin) cut into strips
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch for coating the beef
  • Vegetable oil for frying Vegetable oil for frying enough to deep fry
  • 1 medium bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce can substitute with gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey can substitute with maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1-2 tbsp chili paste adjust to taste
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, toss the beef strips in cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the beef until crispy. Remove and set aside.
Cooking
  1. In the same pan, stir-fry the onions, bell pepper, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, and chili paste. Pour the sauce into the pan and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the crispy beef strips back into the pan and stir well to coat.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave or in a pan for best texture.
