Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter For the biscuit mixture
  • 1/4 cup additional butter For swimming

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and melted butter.
  4. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the additional melted butter into a baking dish.
  6. Spoon the biscuit batter over the butter in the dish.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and fluffy.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

Let them cool just a bit to avoid a buttery disaster. These biscuits are best served warm with honey or jam. Store in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to a month.
