  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moistness.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sugar Can swap half the sugar for honey or maple syrup for a healthier version.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Don't overmix to keep a tender crumb.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Can switch for peanut butter chips or add nuts for variety.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  4. Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir it in.
  6. Stir in the flour until just incorporated.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or cream cheese, or enjoy with vanilla ice cream.
