  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups boiling water

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, mix the brown sugar with boiling water and carefully pour it over the batter in the baking dish (do not stir).
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is set.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Don't skimp on the butter as it adds flavor. Let the cobbler rest after baking to help the sauce settle. Experiment with toppings like nuts or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
