  • 1 cup softened salted butter Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt Plus extra for sprinkling.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips You can mix different types of chocolate chips.

Preparation
  1. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt.
  6. Gradually add this to the wet mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Form tall, lumpy balls and place them on the baking sheets. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Cool on the baking sheet before moving to a wire rack, optionally sprinkling with sea salt.

Notes

These cookies are best served warm with milk or topped with vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
