Ingredients
  

Meatball Mixture
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage Choose your preferred option
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley For garnish
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Assembly Ingredients
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Heated before adding meatballs
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef or sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs (about 1 inch in size) and place them on a baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
  2. In a saucepan, heat marinara sauce over medium heat.
  3. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking dish.
  2. Spoon the meatballs and sauce into each roll, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  3. Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Serve warm and enjoy your Cheesy Meatball Subs!

Notes

Tip: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a bit of spice. You can also use different cheeses like provolone or fontina.
