Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
