  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it sit until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients.
  4. Mix until a dough forms and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Fold in the dark chocolate chips into the dough.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into buns.
  3. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. For the egg wash, beat the egg and brush it over the buns.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Cool before serving.

Notes

These buns are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Feel free to experiment with chocolate types or add dried fruit for a festive twist. For longer storage, freeze them for up to 3 months.
