Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas The riper, the better!
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten Can substitute with applesauce.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional: add some on top before baking for a gourmet touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter.
  4. Mix in the baking soda and a pinch of salt.
  5. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  6. Mix in the flour until just incorporated.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store at room temperature for about 3 days, or wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze for up to three months. To reheat, pop a slice in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
