  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter (melted)
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1.5 cups finely diced apples (Honeycrisp or Gala)
Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.33 cups apple cider or juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce; whisk until smooth.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and gently fold in the diced apples.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Switch on the broiler for an additional 2-4 minutes to caramelize the tops.
Glazing
  1. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar with apple cider until smooth and brush over warm fritter bites.
